Ava lounge (Midtown W)

ava-loungeJust above the rooftop of the Dream Hotel, this is a beautiful lounge with great cocktails.
The rooftop is huge and I love the barbecue and the fashion show over there

Polar lounge, Marcel at Gramercy

polar-lounge-02This was designed as a Polar lounge, seems to be cutter in the stones and Ice. Was beautiful.

Polar lounge

Marcel at Gramercy 201 E. 24th St. in Manhattan.

Empire-RoomLocated on the ground floor of the Empire State Building, this Art Deco lounge seeks to match its center-of-the-universe location with a tribute to old moneyed New York. Soaring ceilings and a marble bar create a theater of nostalgic boozing, but the vibe is deflated by the hit-and-miss cocktail menu.

The Waldorf, a rye-soaked take on a Manhattan, was plagued by medicinal absinthe, while a rummy Prohibition Punch was watered down with melting ice before we could make a dent. Play it safe with the compact list of sipping spirits, but brace yourself for the prices.

If the bar were 102 stories up, we’d happily splurge for the view, but down at street level, it needs better value to woo us back.

Cafe noir

cafe-noirLocated in the heart of Soho, Cafe Noir, part cocktail bar, part tapas bar, has become a cherished neighborhood institution.

DescriptionWith its Mediterranean ambience and reputation for hip-rattling world music DJ sessions, Cafe Noir has kept a diverse crowd of "in-the-knows" moving and shaking for over ten years.

An inspired menu featuring a wide selection of small mix-and-match plates and solid Mediterranean entrees keeps the diners coming.

They nestle in the arcaded nooks or ham it up with the DJ, noshing on perfect grilled calamari, delicate goat cheese-laced Moroccan pizzas, baked brie, or seared tuna.

Or all of them: the Chef's Choice of Tapas, presented with the regality of a raw-bar tower. Shrimp skewers and tuna tartare keep good company with hummus and merguez, salmon roulade and spicy lamb meatballs.

Mao (France, Tours)

The most amazing restaurant of the town. Next to the city all, this is the place to be. All the decoration come from Thailande and China.

The upper level is a open garden with amazing replica statues of The emperor’s soldiers, bicentenary Banzais, real grass on the wall….dining here is like travelling to Asia.

From Thursday to Saturdy the restaurant is turning into a real nightclub with great cocktails.

A must see.
